Intended to provide information about an
offender's custody status, VINELink enables searching the records of
specific Illinois entities. Select the facility (Department of Corrections,
specific county, statewide) you want to search and then enter a name or
social security number. You can also limit a query by date of birth or age
range. The information provided includes the name of the offender, his/her
date of birth, custody status, holding facility and more.
The Michigan State Police offers this
criminal history search tool. Search the criminal history records of the
state repository for a fee. Searching requires a name and date of birth.
Although the repository contains information about arrests not resulting in
convictions, this utility does not display it. The agency warns that it
"does not always receive information from the criminal justice system in a
timely manner." It also cautions that records dated prior to June 1987 may
be unclear about whether the crime was a felony or misdemeanor.
The Michigan State Police (MSP) offer this
official source of sex offender registration information. Search by zip code
or first and last name (partial entries okay) and approximate age to find
name, date of birth, physical description, registration address and
description of the offense.
Find prisoners and parolees currently
supervised by the Michigan Department of Corrections. (This means that you
may not find those incarcerated in county jails, or those who are no longer
incarcerated or on parole.) Search by name or identification number.
Additional criteria may be added: sex, race, age, status or special mark
(scar or tattoo). Information provided includes name, two separate
identification numbers, physical description, date of birth, status,
assigned location, security level, projected release date, aliases, special
physical marks, as well as information about the crime and sentencing.
