A new business that runs background checks on companies and offers a certification service is now open in the Bon Carre Business Center.
Go Kahuna, founded by Don Morgan and John Blackstock, does background checks on businesses, to make sure they're licensed and insured, with good references and no criminal history. Companies who earn the Go Kahuna certification are then listed in advertisements and on the gokahuna.com Web site.
The certified businesses are listed on the Web site, and are freely accessible for consumers and businesses. Customers can tap into this from all over, Morgan said. A business in Atlanta may need some service in Baton Rouge, and they can find a certified company on our Web site.
About 150 companies across Louisiana have earned the designation and Morgan hopes to have 1,000 by the end of the year.
Morgan said he wants to see Go Kahuna go national and open up offices in other cities, but he pledged to keep the headquarters in Baton Rouge.
