Copy, Backup, Clone, Record, Convert, Rip, Burn DVD

DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disc. Due to wide spreading of this disk as a media for high-quality video distribution, DVD is often called Digital Video Disc. But most people just use the abbreviation - DVD without specifying what V is. A DVD disc and a CD disc look the same (both 120mm diameter). But that's the end of the "sameness". It's essentially a bigger (not in size, but capacity), faster CD that can hold cinema-like video, better-than-CD audio, and computer data. DVD aims to encompass home entertainment, computers, and business information with a single digital format, eventually replacing audio CD, videotape, laserdisc, CD-ROM, and perhaps even video game cartridges. DVD has widespread support from all major electronics companies, all major computer hardware companies, and all major movie and music studios. With this unprecedented support, DVD has become the most successful consumer electronics product of all time in less than three years of its introduction.

 FAQ
Q: What is the minimum hardware and software requirements?
A:
  • Operating Systems: Windows® XP/2000/98/ME
  • Processor (CPU): Pentium® III 500MHz
  • Memory (RAM): 128Mb of RAM
  • Hard Drive (HDD): 10Gb of Free Space
  • DVD-Rom/Burner: DVD-R(W)/+R(W) Drive
  • Blank DVD Media: DVD-R(W)/+R(W) Discs

Q. Can I copy a DVD to one disk and keep all the extras too?
A. Most commercial movies on DVD are "dual layered", which means they can hold twice as much information as the blank recordable DVD media available to consumers to copy DVDs. As a result, there is simply too much information on most DVDs to be copied with all the extras.

You can compress a DVD movie to a single disk, but to do this you have to give up some of the extras. The more extras you keep, the lower the overall video quality will be. Any extras you include will play before or after the feature movie, depending on the order you select. As a result, you will no longer have the original menus. You will however still be able to keep the chapters, subtitles and audio language of your choice.

Q. If I compress the video, will it look as good as the original DVD?
A. In most cases you won't see any difference in the video quality for average length 90 minute movies. In some cases where the movie is very long, you may see some compression changes during certain scenes. We have provided you with a splitting application for those movies which are longer to copy to on single DVD with proper video quality.

Q. How long does it take to copy a DVD?
A. This depends on your hardware, but we performed out tests on an average computer with a 2.0 GHz P4 computer that had a a 4X DVD writer and a 16X DVD reader. It takes about 30 minutes to copy an average ninety minute movie. You'll also need another 15 minutes to burn the DVD. The burn speed is fixed by the DVD drive and media combination, but you can expect the copying time to vary with the speed of your computer.

Q. Does EZ DVD Copy support both NTSC and PAL DVD movies?
A. Yes! NTSC and PAL DVDs are both supported.

Q. Can I copy all of the bonus footage and menus?
A. EZ DVD Copy copies all bonus footage, like trailers, interviews and other special features.

Q. How do I know EZ DVD Copy will work for me?
A. That's why we offer a full, unconditional money back guarantee on our product. If for ANY reason you are not happy with your software purchase, you have a full 30 days to return the product. We will issue you a refund of the purchase price of the software.

Q. Can I download a demo of the software?
A. Presently, we don't offer a demo for download. We are however working on one at this time and will be releasing it shortly.

Q. Can EZ DVD Copy be used to copy rented DVDs?
A. You should not use EZ DVD Copy to copy rented DVDs. It should only be used to make copies of DVDs you own for your personal use. Copyright laws protect the rights of artists and film companies, and we ask that you respect those rights.

Q: Is it legal to copy a DVD?
A: The fair-use protection act allows you to make a copy of your own media for backup purposes. We do not condone pirating or unauthorized copying of DVD media.

Q: Is EZ DVD Copy complicated to use?
A: Not at all! Our software uses one-click DVD copy technology. We have also created simple step-by-step instructions and screen shots that will walk you through every aspect of burning your DVD.

Q: Is EZ DVD Copy compatible with Macintosh?

There are 4 standard formats. D10 and D18 are not as common.

A DVD-5 (single sided) DVD-Video disc will hold nominally 133 minutes of high quality MPEG-2 encoded video, together with three surround-sound audio channels and four subtitle channels. (Without video compression one DVD-5 disc would hold only about 3 minutes of video).

A DVD-9 (dual layer) disc increases the playing time to 240 minutes of continuous video.

A DVD-10 (double sided) disc will hold a nominal 133 minutes on each side (ie 266 minutes in all), but the disc needs to be turned over to play the other side.

A DVD-18 (dual layer, doubled sided) disc can hold 240 minutes on each side and the disc also needs to be turned over to play the other side.

Most DVD is D9 or D5 format. DVD-Cloner can clone D9 to just ONE DVDr/rw disc (D5 format) without evident losing.
