Inky Software Enhances Netflix DVD Rental Experience with a New Version of Netflixter Software
New version is packed with power features like monthly statistics, color coded
rental times, and customized shipping and return tracking.
(PRWEB) May 20, 2005 -- Inky Software has released a new version of their
Windows software to enhance the online DVD rental experience with powerful
features. Netflixter version 1.2 allows subscribers of the Netflix rental
service to manage and track their rental queues quickly and efficiently with
features not found through the web site interface.
"I'm hooked on online DVD rentals, but as my queue grew to more than 100 DVDs, I
saw the need for standalone software for rearranging and tracking my DVD
rentals," said software developer, Kristen Alaimo.
Alaimo explained that the software adds features not found on the Netflix web
site. Users can rearrange their queues through drag and drop, or they can
shuffle their entire queue with a single mouse click. They can sort their DVDs
by title, MPAA rating, genre, or availability. Information on each DVD is
cached, so movie summaries are available quickly.
"But possibly the most impressive feature is the added ability to track your
service performance," said Alaimo. The user's entire rental history is saved and
analyzed. Users will now know at a glance if a DVD is late or lost. Easy to read
graphs report monthly shipping and turnaround times. Users can now make a more
informed decision about which service plan is best for them. Users have the
ability to personally track their own shipping and receiving dates to get an
idea of their turnaround performance.
"It's important to note that none of the main web site features have been
forgotten in Netflixter," added Alaimo, "You can still rate your movies, view
your friends’ ratings, recommend movies to friends, search for new movies, and
use multiple profiles from one account. The software can be used as a total web
site replacement or a handy companion to complement the Netflix site."
Netflixter works on Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP. The software can be downloaded

trial of the Netflix DVD rental service for new members.

| There are 4 standard formats. D10 and D18 are not
as common. A DVD-5 (single sided) DVD-Video disc will hold nominally 133 minutes of high quality MPEG-2 encoded video, together with three surround-sound audio channels and four subtitle channels. (Without video compression one DVD-5 disc would hold only about 3 minutes of video). A DVD-9 (dual layer) disc increases the playing time to 240 minutes of continuous video. A DVD-10 (double sided) disc will hold a nominal 133 minutes on each side (ie 266 minutes in all), but the disc needs to be turned over to play the other side. A DVD-18 (dual layer, doubled sided) disc can hold 240 minutes on each side and the disc also needs to be turned over to play the other side. Most DVD is D9 or D5 format. DVD-Cloner can clone D9 to just ONE DVDr/rw disc (D5 format) without evident losing. |
