I've made 10 S'pore men BIGGER, saysBangkok Dr Penis I HAVE performed penis enlargement operations on more than 100 men - 10 of whom were Singaporean.

That's what the doctor involved in a controversy with a Thai Cabinet minister has claimed to The New Paper on Sunday.

Dr Kaweewat Hengsawas, 40, is at the centre of a political storm in Bangkok.

His clinic launched a defamation suit against a woman who said a silicon injection he gave her had disfigured her face. She hit back by urging a Thai Cabinet minister she heard had undergone a penis enlargement there to testify in her defence.

Dr Kaweewat rejected her claim, saying the minister he had treated had come from a foreign country.

He refused to tell The New Paper on Sunday who it was, or from which country he came from.

But he readily admitted performing the procedure on 10 Singaporean men.

He maintains the unorthodox operation is safe.

But Singapore surgeons who have had to repair botched enlargement procedures performed overseas beg to differ. (See report on next page.)

WIDER NOT LONGER

Dr Kaweewat charges 100,000 baht ($4,000) for the procedure. It increases girth by up to 5cm, but not length.

He does this by inserting a series of tiny rubber pellets under the skin.

'It is delicate operation that takes no more than half an hour,' he told The New Paper on Sunday. The patient recovers in about a week.

But Dr Kaweewat said he was selective about who he operated on.

'I am a plastic surgeon, not a sexologist - I only treat those who want penis enlargement for sexual happiness, not on those who have erectile or psychological problems,' he said.

'I first do a detailed psychological check.'

This includes asking intimate questions about the client's sexual habits and even sexual preferences - such as whether he is homosexual.

'All this is necessary for me to decide what kind of treatment I give, or whether I should go ahead with the procedure at all,' he said.

But what are the chances of it going wrong?

'Only one in 500,' claimed Dr Kaweewat.

'The chances of getting infection is less than 0.2 per cent. And even that is treatable. Nothing serious.'

He said most men who sought the operation were hoping to heighten sexual pleasure or to have greater confidence in bed.

He said he relied on 'word of mouth' for referrals.

His clinic is among dozens of beauty surgery clinics that have sprung up in Bangkok in recent years.

Few, however, enjoy the reputation that Dr Kaweewat has acquired.

According to Thai media reports, a Thai police colonel has also sought out his services.

Dr Kaweewat also claims to have provided cosmetic surgery training to at least two Singapore doctors.

His clinic has also released a VCD showing a penis enlargement procedure being performed on an unidentified man while Dr Kaweeat describes the process.

He said it was made for 'educational purposes' while 40 doctors were observing the procedure.
